NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Job Summary

Reporting to the Sr Manager- New Product Development & Introductions, the New Product Development Engineer- Product Data Management is responsible for the systems and processes by which product information is managed in the NPD department. Responsibilities include developing, organizing, and maintaining specification and data repositories; generating and cataloguing product data; managing NPD inputs into ERP system; and creating and maintaining templates for specifications and related documents. This position will also be involved in brainstorming new concepts; creating, issuing and updating specifications for products, retail packaging, master cartons, and displays; and developing and implementing cost reduction projects. The successful candidate will be organized, resourceful, detail-oriented, and possess strong project management skills.

Job Duties

  • Own management of product data and product lifecycle in the NPD department
  • Enter NPD product data into SAP (ERP system) as needed 
  • Create and release packaging and product specifications for new development, product updates, and cost reductions, accurately and in a timely manner 
  • Work closely with Product Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to develop new and innovative packaging & product concepts
  • Proactively identify cost reduction opportunities; schedule and drive cost reduction projects to realized cost savings
  • Develop and implement test plans as needed
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a self-directed manner, working closely with Marketing, Operations, and domestic & international suppliers to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met 
  • Design with customer requirements, retail space restrictions, manufacturability, and cost reduction in mind
  • Provide technical and business expertise to the organization
  • Develop, document, and implement New Product Development policies, procedures, test methodologies, and reports
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Competencies

  • Proficient in 3D CAD (Solidworks a plus)
  • SAP or similar ERP experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Demonstrated Project Leadership skills- experience driving projects from inception through completion, meeting schedule and cost goals.

Qualifications

  • BS Engineering/Structural Design or related discipline
  • 3 years’ experience in consumer goods product engineering
  • Experience interacting with Asian factories and suppliers on product design, testing, and manufacturing is a plus
  • Knowledge of current manufacturing processes. Equipment knowledge and experience is a plus.

SALES ADMINISTRATOR

Job Summary

The Sales Administrator is a newly created position within the Kenney Manufacturing Company Sales organization with the primary purpose to support the Sales and Account Management team with driving sales and company profitability. This position will be located at our Rhode Island HQ’s in Warwick, RI reporting to the Director of Sales. Key responsibilities will include serving as the internal liaison for outside sales team members by attending internal meetings and aiding in administrative tasks to ensure timely and effective execution of sales strategies. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual to make a significant difference within a well-established and rapidly growing company. This is a pivotal role with exposure to departmental leaders across the organization so presents an opportunity to lead through collaboration as well an opportunity to further develop sales and organizational skills within the team.

Job Duties

  • Run and maintain weekly, monthly and quarterly Sales Reports: create queries in SAP to run weekly, Management Meeting, BOD - sales reports for the sales team.
  • Update standard price list as new SKUs on board. Publish annually to account base, internal departments, Inside Sales executive. Coordinate the catalog distribution in collaboration with the Inside Sales team/Customer Service and Marketing
  • Manage transition SKU incoming profiles with the domestic and international sales teams to ensure all SKUs are correctly identified by account. Coordinate these efforts with Marketing team.
  • Back up Intactix user - able to use intactix at as an entry to mid-level user to offset vacations or overflow of projects
  • Support bi-annual market week preparation in weekly collaboration with the marketing team
  • Knowledge and skill to maintain account specific databases
  • Assist sales team with the SPR (sales presentation process) - submit to marketing for account prep kickoff
  • Support the onboarding Ecomm Accounts: Filling out contact and warehouse information, setting up meetings with internal teams, keeping on schedule
  • Attend all necessary internal weekly meetings to support the sales team; profile, forecast, channel, SKU transitions, SDA and sales and marketing staff meetings
  • Sampling programs (admin): Fill out paper work once sampling program is agreed to (ex: Amazon requires a touch on every item), keeping on schedule (for example, Bazaar Voice with Target.com)
  • Attend all necessary internal weekly meetings to support the sales team; profile, forecast, channel, SKU transitions, SDA and sales and marketing staff meetings
  • Credibility and clarity in communications, written and verbal
  • Ability to function and operate closely with others, cross functionally. Such as weekly tracking meetings, weekly Program Assessment Meetings (PAM), Sales Account Prep meeting, and Market Week prep meetings.

Competencies

  • Able to perform with frequency and accuracy excel pricing documents. Skills needed include formula and pivot table creation.
  • Able to create PPT presentations that will include detailed formatting and sometimes animation. 

Qualifications

  • BA degree in business or marketing
  • Prior CPG Experience in a retail environment

PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR – 2ND SHIFT

Job Summary

Responsible for providing leadership and direction to 2nd shift production employees to ensure the highest level of safety, quality, schedule attainment, and cost effectiveness. Works closely with the Production Manager, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, Engineering, to identify, implement, and sustain process changes within their department to meet company goals and objectives for Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost.

Job Duties

  • Exercise direct supervision over the production employees with respect to meeting production schedules, delivery dates and overseeing all aspects of performance management.
  • Identify and resolve unsafe conditions, ensure employees are trained and use safe work habits. Enforcement of all safety policies and procedures. 
  • Execute all phases of our ERP system (SAP) as it relates to our Production/Inventory Control modules. Train new associates when required.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality standards are met throughout the department. Working with Quality, measures current processes, identifies areas for improvement and implements solutions. Ensures Quality procedures are developed and adhered to by all employees.
  • Ensures the proper materials, tools, equipment and people are available to meet production schedules. Monitor workload and schedule to meet on time delivery. 
  • Communicate between shifts via email, text and/or at shift production meetings, problems, concerns, improvement suggestions, safety incidents and manpower requirements, etc.
  • Responsible for plant productivity, efficiency, and/or labor utilization by playing a lead role in LEAN process improvements and coordinate multiple projects within the plant. Lead cross functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure timely and quality delivery to both internal and external customers and be accountable for meeting objectives and taking an active role in project improvement activities (i.e. LEAN initiatives, quality, cell development, new equipment start-ups, new product launch).
  • Provides leadership and development for employees under their direction. Provides expectations and measures performance against expectations. Communicates company policies to workers to ensure understanding and enforce adherence.
  • Maintains employee time and attendance records.
  • Foster a team environment within and across all departments.
  • Responsible for managing change for their employees by helping the employees understand the need for change; ensure they have the skills/training to make the change, and motivating them to embrace/sustain the change.


Competencies

  • Understanding of LEAN principles and the application of tools for identifying and eliminating waste throughout the organization. Experience applying LEAN methodologies preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Ability to positively influence others.
  • Ability to exhibit strong leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. 
  • Strong interdependent partnering skills and conflict resolution skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English) a plus.
  • Ability to utilize MS Office and MRP software to monitor, analyze, and report.
